The Founding
of GCW Shadbagh
Founded in 1982 under the auspices of the Punjab Higher Education Department, Government Graduate College for Women Shadbagh was established with a singular, resolute purpose: to bring the transformative power of formal higher education within reach of women in one of Lahore's most vibrant yet underserved communities.
In those foundational years, pioneer educators devoted themselves to establishing not merely an institution, but a living tradition — one built on the conviction that every woman deserves a space to think, question, grow, and lead. The first graduating class became living proof of what was possible.

College established in Shadbagh under Punjab HED with an inaugural batch of students and a founding faculty committed to women's education.
New departments added in Sciences, Commerce, and Computer Studies — opening doors for an ever-wider range of students and aspirations.
